Report Absence
Presence in school is a strong indicator for future success. We encourage regular attendance and look forward to a successful 2024-2025 school year with your student.
Students arriving after 10:10 a.m. during a regularly scheduled school day without proper documentation will be marked absent for that day.
To notify ELC South of an absence, do any of the following:
- Send an email to christiana.mondragon@kellerisd.net.
- Email student's teachers and include (cc) christiana.mondragon@kellerisd.net
- Turn in a parent or doctor note to the attendance office upon return of your student.
Please provide the following information in your notification:

Student’s first and last name

Reason for absence
- Your name, relationship to student, and your contact phone number
ATTENDANCE
- Attendance is taken daily at 10:10 a.m.
- If your child is not at school when the attendance bell rings, they are considered absent.
- If your child is off campus during attendance time (part of day or whole day) for sickness or has a doctor’s appointment, please send a parent or doctor’s note within 3 days of the absence.
- Please provide written documentation for early dismissal. Checking a student out before 3:00 pm counts as “early dismissal” and is considered unexcused, unless we have documentation of an appropriate “leave early” reason. Possible excused reasons for early dismissal include dental or medical appointments, funerals, and personal illness determined by the school nurse.
TARDIES
- School begins at 8:10 a.m.
- If your child is not in their classroom at 8:10 a.m. when the bell rings, they are considered TARDY for the day.
- If your child has a dental or doctor appointment in the day and they will be arriving late to school, make sure you bring a note from the dentist or the doctor.
Doctor’s Appointments:
- Arriving late/and or leaving early for any reason other than a medical appointment is considered ONE absence for the day. A student may not miss more than TEN full days and or parts of days in a six-month period.
